Balasore: Commuters were left in a state of panic after a coal-laden freight train caught fire at Soro Railway Station in Balasore district today.

Smokes started billowing out of the rearmost wagon of the train in the morning while the 58-wagoned carrier was en-route to Haldia of West Bengal from Odisha’s Talcher with a coal consignment.

The loco pilot immediately stopped the train and intimated railway officials on the matter.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and contained the blaze a few minutes later.
