Good News! Odisha Govt hikes salary of junior teachers by 50%

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an increase in the salary of junior teachers engaged in primary schools by 50%.

According to the reports, the salaries of junior contractual and regular teachers have been increased by 50 percent. The hike will take effect retrospectively that is from January 1, 2022.

The current salary of contractual junior teachers has been increased to Rs 11,000 from Rs 7400. Similarly, the salary of junior teachers has been increased to Rs 13,800 from Rs 9,200.

The Odisha government will spend Rs 168 crore a year following the announcement of the salary hike.

The decision of salary hike will benefit as many as 13,324 contractual teachers, while 19,714 junior teachers. A total of 33,038 junior teachers will be paid, added reports.

It is to be noted that on New Year, the employment of as many as 8102 contractual junior teachers has been regularized in Odisha. After Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made relaxation in the age limit, as many as 40,052 teachers have been promoted.

The 2015 junior teachers’ batch has been regularized and all the 8,102 junior teachers will benefit in the State.
