Gold Worth Rs 52.02 Lakh Seized From Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar: Air Intelligence Unit of Customs seized gold weighing 1310 grams from a passenger who arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur last night.

Customs officials said that the market value of the recovered gold was Rs52.02 lakh. The Customs officials have detained the passenger hailing from Kerala and are further interrogating him.

” The gold was found during the search of his personal luggage. The gold was being smuggled in the form of powder,” said an official.

Customs officials have seized 13.77 kg gold worth Rs 4.46 crore from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) during the 2018-19 fiscal.
