Gold worth Rs 30 lakh seized at Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar: The officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs on Thursday seized gold strips weighing 690.55 grams at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here in Odisha.

The market value of the seized gold strips has been estimated about Rs 30 lakhs, Customs officials said in a press release.

One passenger, hailing from Chennai, was detained after custom officials found his activities suspicious. He arrived in the State capital by an Air Asia flight AK-31 from Kuala Lumpur.

The passengers had hidden the gold strips in the aluminium linings of his trolley bags, the officials revealed.
