Gold worth Rs 10.56 lakhs seized at Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar: Officers of Air Intelligence Unit of Customs seized gold worth Rs 10.56 lakhs at Biju Patnaik International Airport here today.

Acting on spot intelligence, officers of Air Intelligence Unit intercepted two passengers of Indian origin, hailing from Chennai, who arrived from Kualalumpur by Air Asia on Wednesday. Search of their personal baggage led to recovery of 4 pcs of cylindrical gold bars of foreign origin, concealed inside trolley wheels totally weighing 340.o7 gms, valued at Rs 10,56,357.

Further investigation into to the matter is on, as per a press report released by the Customs authorities at BPI airport.
