Gold Worth Over Rs 4.99 Crore Seized From Train In Odisha, Two Detained

Rourkela: Officials of Central Excise and Customs today seized gold weighing around 12.9 kilograms from Mumbai-bound Jnaneswari Express midway between Rajgangpur and Jharsuguda today.

Officials said that the value of the seized gold will be Rs 4.99  crore. “We conducted a raid basing on specific intelligence and seized the gold. The train was on its way to Mumbai from Howrah,” said an official.

Officials have detained two persons in this connection and are further interrogating them to ascertain the source of procurement of the gold. “Both of them claimed to the residents of Mumbai. We are also trying to find out the involvement of any racket in the incident,” added the official.
