Rourkela: A gold jeweller sustained critical injury as he was attacked with knife by miscreants on Matab Road near Golaghar Ganjapali in Odisha’s Rourkela city last night.
The victim, identified as Binayak Prasad, was rushed to the Ispat Government Hospital (IGH) in the steel city.
According to reports, Binayak was returning home in a car after closing his jewellery shop at Sector-5 in the city when miscreants came on a bike and intercepted his vehicle and stabbed him repeatedly, leaving him in critical condition.
The miscreants managed to flee from the spot soon after they had committed the crime.
However, locals took him to the IGH immediately and informed the police in this connection.
The Plant Site police have started investigation into the incident. The exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, police said.
