Girl student dies in hostel under mysterious circumstances, family alleges murder in Jajpur

Jajpur: A college girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private college hostel room of Dhanmandal village under Badachana police limits of Odisha’s Jajapur district.

The deceased student has been identified as Smruti Dash. She was studying Plus Two in college.

Smruti was reportedly attending classes yesterday. However, she rushed to the hostel room for some unknown reason. The college authorities went to her hostel room after she did not return for classes. They knocked on the door. However, as Smruti had locked the door from inside, they broke open the door and found Smruti’s body hanging from the ceiling fan of the room.

Soon, the college authorities informed Smruti’s parents about her death. However, her family members alleged that she has been murdered. Her mother alleged that she was tortured and killed by the staff of the college only.

Badachana police along with a scientific team, Jajpur Additional Superintendent of Police (SP), Jajpur Road SDPO and Tehesildar of Darpan Block visited the spot and started an investigation by sending Smruti’s body to the hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a suicide note was also found from the hostel room, where Smruti has asked forgiveness from her parents. Besides, she said that she hated her life.
