Koraput: A college girl from Semiliguda in Odisha’s Koraput district, who was allegedly set afire by a youth, died while undergoing treatment at Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital today.
The girl was set on fire by a youth named Gopinath Khora on May 31, after she rejected his proposal.
To avenge rejection, Khora had barged into the girl’s house, poured petrol on her and set her ablaze before fleeing the spot.
The girl had sustained 50 percent burn injuries and was admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. She was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after her condition deteriorated.
