Girl raped in Birmaharajpur of Odisha

The crime took place in Dharmasala area under Birmaharajpur police limits in Subarnapur district when the girl was returning from bank

Subarnapur: A 26-year-old girl has allegedly been raped in Dharmasala area under Birmaharajpur police limit in Subarnapur district of Odisha. She was returning from the bank when the crime took place. She had visited the bank to open an account under the ‘Kalia’ scheme.

After she was raped, she remained senseless till the Police rescued her after getting a tip-off from a passerby. She has been admitted to the hospital but her condition is still critical.

As per the statement of the victim she had gone to Dharmasala state bank along with her sister and sister-in-law on Wednesday. As the bank was crowded she could not open the account and hence decided to return. A far relative from her elder sister’s in-laws’ village had also gone to the bank for some work. The victim’s sister in law asked him to give lift to the victim in his bike. Accordingly, the victim and the accused set out for the return journey. However, after traveling for some distance he allegedly raped the victim.

Resultantly, the victim fell unconscious and the man left her there. She was left unattended for around three hours when a passerby noticed her and informed Birmaharajpur police. Police rushed to the spot and rescued the victim.

The stain of blood was also found on the spot. The victim was rushed to Birmaharjpur hospital. However, as her condition deteriorated she was moved to Sonepur hospital. A case has been lodged at Birmaharajpur police station in this regard.

SDPO Khirod Chopdar is looking into the case. So far nobody has been nabbed.
