Ganjam: In a rare incident, an educated girl reportedly eloped with the mason who was engaged in construction work at their house. Initially, it was believed that the girl was kidnapped, but later things took a dramatic turn and it was known that the step was taken due to love affair. The incident took place in Kabirajpur village under Gangpur Police limits in Ganjam district of Odisha.
As per reports, a few days before the highly-educated girl who was preparing for B Ed examination told her mother that she wants to go to the market to make the Xerox copies of her documents. However, she did not return till late night.
The family members started searching for the girl and as they could not find, lodged a missing report in the Police station.
After two days of the incident, the family members came to know that the girl was kidnapped by some bike borne youths. Accordingly, they again complained in the Police station claiming it to be a case of kidnap.
However, the following day the family members again came to know that the youth, who was working at their house as a mason is behind all these trouble.
In the meanwhile a video went viral where it was seen that the girl herself was saying that she went with the said youth as per her own wish. She also said in the video that she wants to live with the boy for ever. She even threatened her family members to take back the FIR they had lodged or else she would commit suicide.
Gangpur Police put much effort to solve this difficult case. Police conducted raids at multiple places and finally brought the two to the Police Station. However, in the meanwhile the boy and the girl had already married in the Court. They exhibited their marriage certificate to Police. Since both of them were major in age and as per law they can take their own decision, the family members had no other choice but to let the girl go.
In their reaction, the family members of the girl said that despite everything they are ready to accept the girl in the family. However, the girl made her own choice.
