Cuttack: Close on the heels of the ghee duplicating unit which was raided in the state capital Bhubaneswar in November, police raided a house at Sagaria Sahi under Professor Para area in Cuttack on Wednesday and sealed a spurious ghee manufacturing unit running inside it. One person was taken into custody from the spot.
The raid was conducted after Mangalabag Police got specific information on the ghee production unit which was operating inside one Subash Behera’s house in Sagaria Sahi area. The team of cops which took part in the raid found duplicate packets of all reputed brands including Omfed, Durga and Devi ghee. Similarly, huge amounts of ghee manufacturing items including palmolein oil, borax powder, cooking gas cylinders and empty pouches of ghee were also seized from the spot.
Police said the duplicate ghee packed in the manufacturing unit was being sent to grocery shops located in and around the city.
In November, the Twin City Commissionerate Police raided a spurious ghee manufacturing unit which was operating in Bangali Sahi area under Laxmisagar police limits in Bhubaneswar on November 12 and arrested six persons from the spot.
