Cuttack: Excise officials along with Tigiria police today seized ganja weighing 5.5 quintal and arrested a woman in this connection. The market value of the seized ganja would be Rs 28 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and excise raided a house in Achalakote village and seized the contraband. “The ganja was stocked in two large boxes having a height of around seven feet. The mastermind of the peddling racket Suresh Majhi managed to escape from the spot with three of his associates,” said an excise official.
The excise sleuths have arrested Sandhyarani Majhi, the wife of Suresh. “She is being further interrogated to ascertain the source of procurement of ganja,” added the official.
