Koraput: In a major breakthrough in crackdown on ganja smuggling in the district, excise officials with the help of the district police seized the dry cannabis worth around Rs 2.5 crore and arrested as many as 12 persons for their involvement in the case.
According to sources, the district police and officials of the excise department conducted raids at several places including Jeypore Town, Baipariguda and other areas in the last two days and arrested the accused persons after recovering ganja from their possessions.
Police are interrogating the arrested persons to abstract more details of the ganja smugglings and involvement of others.
