Ganja worth Rs 15 Cr destroyed in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: The district Excise officials destroyed various Ganja fields worth an estimated Rs 15 crore during an eradication exercise in various parts of the district on Friday.

The officials conducted the exercise at Chhendipada and Jarapada area of the district and destroyed approximately 1 lakh 52 thousand fully grown Ganja trees spread across 38 acres of land. However, no arrest was made in this connection.

Speaking to Kalinga TV, Angul Excise Superintendent Harishandra Sethy said, “ The district administration has decided to destroy grown Ganja trees completely. We have appealed the Sarapanchs and DPOs to inform about the Ganja fields in their respective areas for this exercise.”

“We have also circulated our contact numbers among the public to inform about the illegal cultivation of Ganja in the district,” Sethy added.
