Rayagada: In a major crackdown, the excise department personnel on Tuesday seized 1622 kg of ganja worth around Rs 1.5 crore near Mukundapur valley in Rayagada district.
Acting on a tip-off, a squad of the excise department intercepted a truck near Mukundapur valley and seized 1622 kg of contraband from 56 gunny bags.
However, the driver and the helper managed to flee from the spot.
The contraband was being smuggled to Uttar Pradesh from Rayagada district.
The excise department have started an investigation into the matter and have launched a manhunt to nab the driver and helper of the truck.
