Anandpur: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders in the district, Excise officials on Tuesday arrested a woman from Marei village under Nandipada police limits and arrested huge amount of ganja from his possession.
Police is yet to ascertain the identity of the held woman peddler.
After getting a tip-off on the ganja trade which was taking place at the arrested woman’s house in the village since long, a special squad of excise sleuths of Central division, Cuttack raided her house this morning with Nandipada Police’s assistance.
During the raid the Excise officials seized ganja consignments worth over Rs 10 lakh from the spot and took the woman into custody.
A case under NDPS Act has been lodged against the accused and further investigation is underway to examine the role of a bigger racket in the case.
