Ganja weighing above 806 kg seized in Bhubaneswar, 2 arrested  

Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off regarding inter-state drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) in Bhubaneswar today conducted on NH-16 near Pitapali and seized above 806 kg from an Eicher-1110 container and arrested two persons for their involvement in the case.

The arrested persons have been identified as Anil Kumar of Safi Nagar Gaujrala in Uttar Pradesh and Ganesh Shah of village Gajorala of Nepal, who is currently staying at Kirtinagar, New Delhi.

According to reports, during the search contraband ganja weighing 806 kg+ was found concealed in the secret chamber of the container vehicle. The vehicle along with the contraband ganja was seized from their possession.

The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of transportation of such contraband materials, for which the accused persons were arrested and were forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Khurda in Bhubaneswar.

In this connection, STF PS Case No.15 dated 21.06.2022 U/s 20 (b)(ii)(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 was registered. An investigation is on.

The Special Task Force’s special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing. Since 2020, it has seized more than 52 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 111 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 gram and arrested more than 148 drug dealers/peddlers.
