Jajpur: The police seized over 1 kg of ganja and opium from a gift shop near Chitalo chaak here in Odisha on Friday. One person has been arrested in this connection, police said.
The arrested person has been identified as Prashant Kumar Kar (30), a resident of Jhadanga area in the town.
Jajpur SDPO Rabindra Kumar Jena said, Prashant was running business gift items and photocopy in his shop- Dipak Digital Shop- in the town. He was selling ganja and opium in small gift packets from his shop , Jena added.
Following a tip off, police raided the shop in presence of a magistrate and seized 1 kg 590 grams of ganja from a polytine bag and 19.50 grams of opium from a sachet which were on sale.
A case has registered against Prashant under NDPS Act at Jagpur police station and he will be produced in the court today. police said.
