Kandhamal: The Excise officials and Baliguda police destroyed various Ganja fields worth an estimated cost of over 15 crore rupees in Barakhama area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday.
The officials conducted the exercise at Sundurmila, Junagam, Katapanga villages under Baliguda police limits of the district and destroyed fully grown Ganja plants spread across 150 acres of land.
Over 100 police personnel and labourers were engaged in the Ganja plants eradication drive, sources said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Baliguda Police Station under Section 20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 in this regard. However, no one was arrested in this connection till the news was filed.
