Ganja Plants Worth Rs 10 Cr Destroyed In Kandhamal

Phulbani: The Kandhamal district Excise officials and Phiringia police destroyed various Ganja fields worth an estimated cost of Rs 1.70 Cr in various parts of the district on Thursday.

The officials conducted the exercise at Kalashpadar, Jurudi, Patakilu and Sripala villages under Phiringia police limits of the district and destroyed fully grown Ganja plants spread across 107 acres of land.

On Wednesday, the officials had also destroyed Ganja plants worth Rs 1.30 Cr in the region. However, no arrest was made in this connection.

As many as 100 Odisha police officials, 200 CRPF Jawans and 40 labourers were engaged in the Ganja plant eradication drive, sources said.

Meanwhile, a case has been lodged at Phiringia Police Station under Section 20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 in this connection.
