Ganja plants worth Rs 1.55 crore destroyed in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani : A joint team of Baliguda police and Excise personnel destroyed ganja plants worth around Rs 1.55 crore in Baliguda area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district, a senior police official said  on Tuesday.

The joint team destroyed around 1.55 lakh ganja plants that were illegally being cultivated in a huge tract spread over  195 acre of land near Badikata village under Baliguda police limits in the district.

The team destroyed the ganja plants by cutting and burning them on the spot.

The value of the contrband substance was estimated to be Rs 1.55 crore, said Baliguda SDPO Manas Ranjan Barik.

So far, No one has been arrested in this connection. But, the operation will be intensified in the area in the coming days, he added.
