Cuttack: Police on Wednesday busted a gang of snatchers and arrested four persons. Police have also seized gold ornaments weighing 156 grams from the possession of the accused.
The accused have been identified as Babuna Sahu (36), Ranjit Malia (40), Rajkiran Prasad Saha (28) and Keshab Chandra Samal (36), all residents of the city.
Police said that the gang was involved in snatching of a gold chain of one Soumya Ranjan Nayak on October 13. The victim had also sustained serious injuries after being assaulted by the snatchers.
Police said that the gang was involved in as many as 25 snatching cases in various police stations in the city while Babuna Sahu was also involved in a dozen of criminal cases.
“We have also seized three two-wheelers and five mobile phones from the accused. Further investigation in the case is continuing,” said a police official.
