Gambling den busted in Sambalpur district, 14 arrested

Sambalpur: As many as 14 people were arrested after a surprise raid was conducted at various places in Sambalpur town while the gambling was being organised.

Reportedly, a special drive was conducted Sambalpur SMC area on the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP). Following this, the special team apprehended 14 people who were indulged in gambling business at Sahu Colony, Gaity Road, Fatak Bada Bazaar, Dhanupalli Chowk, Ainthapalli bus stand and Dukupada.

A total of seven cases have been registered under Town Police Station, Dhanupali Police Station, Khetrajpur Police Station and Ainthapali Police Station under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), PCMC Act and L.R Act, added reports.

The arrested 14 gamblers have been identified as Ganesh Senapati, Pramod Sonkar, Trinath Behera, Sudam Bag, Sanjay Mukhi, Baishnab Kalet, Akash Jal, Prakash Sahu, Omprakash Shah, Jitendra Shah, Tirtha Munda, Sachin Ray, Abhay Kumar Mahavar and Raj Kishor Badi.

The police team has seized huge amount of cash, mobile phones, notebooks from their possession and initiated a probe into matter to nab other gamblers involved in the illegal business.
