Berhampur: In a success to Ganjam police against illegal money wagering it busted a gambling den by conducting a raid in Berhampur town last night and arrested at least 15 betters.
A police team headed by Berhampur Town Police Station IIC carried out the raid late in the night following a tip-off on the racket which was running clandestinely in Bhimraopeta area.
During the raid, the cops seized cash with a face value of Rs 7,68,710 along with 16 mobile phones, one plastic mat, 104 numbers of playing cards and five motorcycles from the possession of the betters and seized those. Later they were taken into custody for interrogation.
The held persons will be forwarded to court today after eliciting more information on the gambling racket from them, informed Berhampur SDPO Pinak Mishra.
