Freight train catches fire in Balasore

Balasore: Commuters were left in a state of panic after a coal-laden freight train caught fire at Bahanaga railway station in Balasore district today.

The fire came to light after some staff of the train witnessed smokes billowing out of a wagon in the morning while it was en-route to Haldia of West Bengal from Paradip. They immediately swung into action and called up fire brigade officials.

At least two fire tenders from Soro rushed to the spot later and contained the blaze.

While a major mishap has been averted by the timely step of the railway officials, the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
