Free chemo service extended to all DHHs in Odisha

Free chemo for cancer patientsBhubaneswar: In a bid to provide better and faster treatment to cancer patients free of cost across the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the extension of the free chemotherapy services to all the district headquarter hospitals (DHHs). The announcement was made at a special programme held at the state secretariat here on Tuesday.

Earlier, the service was available in 13 districts including Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Phulbani and Puri.

The CM said that the service would benefit the cancer patients from the rural and tribal areas of the state who can now get chemotherapy and consultation free of cost. The state government will bear the expenses from its own fund.

The programme has been initiated under the guidance of renowned cancer specialist Dr. Dinesh Pendharkar.
