Four cops suspended for consuming liquor inside police outpost in Odisha

Jajpur: As many as four police personnel have been suspended for consuming liquor inside a police outpost in Odisha’s Jajpur district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul P R reportedly suspended the cops yesterday.

The cops who have been suspended have been identified as constables Tapan Das and Sanjay Bhol and Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) personnel Benudhar Khatua and Ananta Samal.

SP Rahul P R was reportedly returning to Jajpur from Cuttack on February 19. However, he noticed a huge crowd on the road near Jaraka, following which he made a surprise visit to the nearby Jaraka police outpost.

The Superintendent of Police, to his surprise, found the four to be under the influence of liquor.

Soon the cops were shifted to Dharamshala Police station and a medical test was conducted on them.

They were suspended yesterday after the report revealed that they were drunk when the SP had visited them.
