Four Arrested For Murder Of Criminal In Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Police today arrested four persons in connection with the murder case of Amit Dhal in Brajrajnagar on Monday evening. Police have also seized four country-made pistols and 20 rounds of bullets from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Bulu alias Sandip Kumar Singh (25), Yadav alias Okil Ray (22), Gurmeet alias Ramesh Paikray (30) and Md. Shahbaz (28).

Police said that the murder was a fall out of past enmity between two gangs of anti-social headed by the deceased and one Santosh Biswal.

“One gang member of Biswal was assaulted by the associates of Dhal at Samleswari mines 15 days ago but no police complaint was lodged.  Following the incident Biswal procured five guns and around three dozen of bullets to eliminate Dhal,” said a police official. 

The assailants later fired three rounds at Dhal from a close range while he was playing cards with his friends near Brajrajnagar bus stand, around 100 metres away from Brajrajnagar police station. Dhal died on his way to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.

Police said that Dhal was a wanted criminal and was involved in 10 cases of attempt to murder, extortion and robbery. “Involvement of other miscreants involved is yet to be ascertained as the case is still under the investigation,” added the police official.
