Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police today arrested four persons for allegedly assaulting a truck driver and looting cash on Puri Bypass in the wee hours of Tuesday. Police are also trying to nab three others involved in the crime.
Police said that the group of seven accused stopped the truck and assaulted both the driver and helper while they were transporting a consignment to Gunupur from Cuttack. “ The miscreants damaged the truck and decamped with cash od Rs 15000, mobile phone and original documents of the truck,” said a police official.
The driver of the truck Aspana Sunil Kumar has lodged a police complaint. Police during investigation identified the motorcycles used in the crime and subsequently nabbed the accused.
The accused have been identified as Prabhat Jena (26), Sibabrata Moharana (27), Ranjan Nayak (24) and Rajesh Pal (25). Police said that all the accused are staying in slums in Mancheswar area. Police have also seized cash of Rs 6000 and one of the four motorcycles used in the crime.
