Former sarpanch shot dead by Maoists in Odisha!

A KKBN Maoist called the Sarpanch from his house and killed him by shooting at him, as many as 10 Maoists had entered the village.

Kandhamal: Late last night, a former Sarpanch identified as Subal Kaher was killed in Kandhamal district of Odisha, said reports.

The incident has been reported from Sumerband village under Sumerband Panchayat Saulpada under Firingia police station limits.

According to reports, a KKBN Maoist called the Sarpanch from his house and killed him by shooting at him. About ten armed militants have carried out the murder, said reports.

The locals have said that, the former sarpanch worked as a contractor. It is worth mentioning that Earlier he was targeted by Naxals.

Now Kandhamal SP Shuchendu is monitoring the situation. It is worth reporting that the killing may have taken place to revenge the death of three cadres in the encounter yesterday. A BSF camp is located at Migunpadar, three kilometers away.

On the 9 May, 2023 as many as three Maoists have been killed in an encounter with police personnel in Kalahandi district of Odisha. The incident took place in Taperenga-Ludengad forest under M. Rampur police limits.

The police and the Maoists were involved in an exchange of fire during a combing operation. Sources said that one Deputy Superintendent Of Police (DSP) has also sustained critical injuries in the encounter.

The DSP had been admitted to Bhima Bhoi hospital in Bolangir.

It is worth mentioning that on May 7, 2023, two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.

The exchange of fire took place in the Puttapadu forest of Cherla mandal of the district. The deceased reportedly include IOS commander Rajesh of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
