Keonjhar: Ramachandrapur police today arrested the former sarpanch and husband of Ghasipura block chairman in connection with six pending cases against him.
Police said that Madanmohan Sahoo, who was also the former sarpanch of Padana panchayat was also involved in attack on the convoy of PCC president, Niranjan Patnaik during last general election this year.
While Niranjan escaped unhurt, at least seven of his supporters were injured when two groups clashed with each other.
Police said that Sahoo was also involved in several other cases in the district. “He has been forwarded to the court after medical examination. We have also kept a tight vigil to prevent any further untoward incident in the area after his arrest,’ said a police official.
