Pulbani: A former MLA has been arrested for misbehaving with a girl and her mother in Odisha.
The accused has been identified as former Phulbani MLA Debendra Kanhar.
According to reports, Phulbani Sadar Police arrested Kanhar this evening while probing a case filled the girl last month.
The girl, a resident of Goudapada under the Sadar police limits, in her police complaint filed on September 5 had alleged that the former MLA and his driver Rinku Sahoo had trespassed into their house and misbehaved with her and her mother on September 3.
The victim had also alleged that they were even beaten by the duo.
Police had registered a case in this regard under sections 451 (house-trespass), 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (molestation), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 370 (exploitation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the politician and his driver.
