Former Odisha minister Dolagobinda Pradhan passes away

Bhubaneswar: Noted freedom fighter and former Odisha minister Dolagobinda Pradhan passed away at his Bhubaneswar residence today. He was 93.

Pradhan is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.

A staunch follower of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and his ideology throughout his life, Pradhan was born on June 7, 1929 in Dihasahi of Cuttack. He took part in the Quit India Movement in 1942 also and got imprisoned by the then British government for over 3 years.

By starting his political career in the independent India Pradhan joined Indian National Congress (INC) and got elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly twice from Cuttack Sadar constituency. Later he became the Urban Development Minister of Odisha in 1989.

Political leaders across the party lines, noted personalities and people from all spheres of life reached Pradhan’s house after hearing the news of his demise and paid their last respect to the departed soul.
