Former minister Raghunath Mohanty quits BJD

Bhubaneswar: In an interesting turn of the events, former minister and senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty resigned from the primary membership as well as vice-president post of his party, a day after quitting as Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) chairman yesterday.

Mohanty, submitted his resignation letter to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik this morning, in which he cited personal reason to be the cause behind his exit.

Notably, Mohanty had tendered his resignation from OLIC yesterday by arriving at BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik’s residence.

Later answering to media persons, the former minister had said that his quitting was only from OLIC and not BJD.

In his response to contest from his home constituency Basta, Mohanty maintained it that the decision of giving him a ticket to fight poll solely rests with the party supremo.

It is being suspected that, the former minister might be unhappy over ticket allocation of the conch party for the upcoming election.
