Puri: In a shocking incident, a former member of Puri Srimandir managing committee has been shot dead by some unidentified miscreants.
The former member of the Jagannath Temple, senior servitor, and secretary of the Suara Mahasuara Nijog has been identified as Krushna Chandra Pratihari. The incident took place near the Barabati area.
Reportedly, two miscreants came on a motorcycle and shot two rounds of bullets on Pratihari following which they fled from the spot, informed an eyewitness.
Thereafter, he was rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). However, the doctors declared him brought dead.
On getting the information, the senior cops arrived at the hospital along with Puri Collector Samarth Verma to look into the murder cases and access the situation.
From the preliminary investigation, it is being suspected that Pratihari has been shot dead over some past enmity. The actual cause behind the murder and the identities are yet to be ascertained.
