The victim was a not only a former Legislative Assembly candidate but also former Anadapur Block Chairperson.
As per reports, a few miscreants called Behera from his Dharakote residence and then attacked him with sharp weapons. They hacked both of his hands and left him in bloodied condition.
He was rescued by a few localites who immediately rushed him to Anandapur Hospital where he succumbed to death.
Ghasipura Police is conducting a detailed investigation of this sensitive matter.
Such heinous crime with alleged political rivalry, especially during the current election atmosphere has put everyone in shock. Police is in high alert to prevent any such mishaps in the future.
