Jharsuguda: In a broad daylight heist, unidentified miscreants fired at a former Councillor in Kalinagar area near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district and left him critically injured this morning.
The victim has been identified as Gudu Gupta, a Contractor by profession also.
The attack took place in the morning while Gupta was returning home after morning walk. An unspecified number of bike-borne attackers chased him and fired at least three rounds of bullet targeting him after stopping him.
Gupta who sustained two bullet injuries on his abdomen was immediately rushed to Central Hospital in Mandalia and then shifted to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for better treatment.
While police has lodged a case and launched a manhunt to trace the absconding attackers, a business rivalry is being suspected behind the firing.
