Former CBI director Uma Shankar Mishra from Odisha dies

Bhubaneswar: Former Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Uma Shankar Mishra from Odisha passed away on Thursday.

According to reports, Mishra, a 1968-batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi.

Mishra had played an important role in arresting underworld don Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi.

Before assuming charge of the Director of CBI in 2003, Uma Shankar Mishra was served as Special Director to the investigating agency.

Apart from this, Uma Shankar Mishra was a member of Meghalaya’s Planning Commission and an adviser to Microsoft India.

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life expressed their deep condolences following Uma Shankar Mishra’s death.
