Baripada: In a tragic incident, a forest official was charred to death while dousing the fire in a forest near Jadabila village under Thakurmunda police limits of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. The deceased forest official has been identified as Jadumani Mohanty.
A fire reportedly took place in the forest following which Mohanty, who was put in charge of the forest, soon swung into action and put his life at risk to control the fire from spreading further. Unfortunately, he was charred to death while dousing the inferno.
A pall of gloom descended on the area following the untimely death of Jadumani.
On the other hand, at least three forest department staff sustained critical injuries after the vehicle in which they were traveling in overturned near Sarsara Ghat under Bonai forest range of Sundergarh district. They have been admitted at the hospital for treatment.
