‘Forest department seriously looking into it’: CM on Niali sheep killing Bhubaneswar: In his first comment on the issue of an unknown animal on a sheep killing spree in Niali area of Cuttack district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said the Forest department is dealing with the issue in all seriousness.

“As far the Niali is concerned, the forest department is very seriously looking into it,” said Patnaik while speaking to reporters here.

Forest Minister Bijayshree Routray, had earlier claimed that the killer animal had been identified as wolf. He had said traps wpould be set to catch the animal.

The residents of Pakhari village alleged that the untraceable animal continued its havoc by killing one more sheep in the village late on Friday night.

Day or night, the people of the area are scared of the animal. If wolves or hyenas are killng the domestic animals, who then is attacking human beings, they ask.

Around 200 sheep have been killed by the mysterious animal in the past two months, raising questions about the inaction of the state government.
