Following protests Odisha CM directs BMC to hold collection of hiked holding tax

Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed to hold the collection of holding tax by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) at the hiked rate. Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena intimated about it.

As of now BMC has been directed to collect the holding tax at the prevailing rate. As per the CM’s directive collection of the hiked holding tax has been halted until Orissa High Court comes up with a final decision in the matter.

The Chief Minister’s direction came following protests by all opposition parties and many social outfits. Congress workers came in a rally and protested in front of BMC today against the said tax hike.
