Utkal Express derailment: Prabhu directs to fix responsibility on prima facie evidence by evening New Delhi: Taking serious note of the Puri- Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express (18477) derailment at Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, which left 21 dead and over 130 injured yesterday evening, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today asked for fixing of responsibility on prima facie evidence by today evening.

“Will not allow laxity in operations by the Board. Have directed CRB to fix responsibility on prima facie evidence by end of day,” twitted Prabhu.

The Minister also said that he is monitoring the situation with priority on restoration and best possible medical care for the injured persons.

“Restoration is top priority.7 coaches tackled. Also ensuring best possible medical care for the injured. Monitoring situation closely,” read another twitter post by the Minister.

The Minister had yesterday announced ex-gratia of Rs.3.5 Lakh for those who lost their lives in the mishap and Rs.50, 000 for the injured.
