Five Players From Odisha To Join The National Hockey Camp

Bhubaneswar: Five Odisha players have been named in the 34 probable list of players announced by Hockey India today for the Indian Men’s National Coaching Camp schedule to be held at Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru from July 8.

Defenders Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Nilam Sanjeep Xess mid-fielder Ashis Kumar Topno and Shilanand Lakra are the players from Odisha named for the national camp. Earlier, Odia defender Birendra and Amit was the part of the Indian Hockey team, who crowned the FIH Men’s Series Final here.

The players will report to chief coach Graham Reid for the six-week camp that will conclude on August 11. The selected Indian team will travel to Japan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Test Event to be played between India, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand starting on August 17.

“We will review our performance at the FIH Men’s Series Final Bhubaneswar and how we can collectively improve our performance in the lead up to the Olympic Qualification in November. The next three-four months will be crucial and everything we do will be aimed at raising the bar in all aspects of the game,” said Reid.
