Kendrapara: At least five cattle were charred to death after a massive fire broke out at Jhadakata village in Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district.
Sources said, the fire erupted at a cow shed of one Batakrushna Rout while everyone was sleeping. The panicked family members came out of the house after they saw the fire at the cow shed and rushed to douse the flames and rescue the cattle, but failed following which the five cattle died in the mishap and injured one of the family member Pradeep Rout.
On receiving the information , the fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flame, by the time fire services reached, the cow shed was reduced to ashes.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
