Kendrapara: Police today arrested five persons in connection with the murder of a medicine store owner near Hatia in Marshaghai block of Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
Police said that business rivalry was the motive behind the crime. The deceased identified as Gagan Sahu Manikunda village was killed after two bike-borne miscreants had opened fire at him when he was travelling on a motorcycle.
Police said that as many as eight people were involved in the crime. “The deceased had played the role of middlemen between the prime accused and another businessman in a money deal. However the deceased later demanded money for which the prime accused hatched the plot to eliminate Sahu. We are trying to nab the prime accused,” said Kendrapara SP, Niti Sekhar.
