Fire Mishap: 8 houses gutted, 3 families rendered homeless in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: At least three families were rendered homeless after eight houses were gutted in a fire mishap in Malisahi in Chittalpur village in the district on Thursday.

The mishap took place at around 10 AM in the morning while all were busy in their daily chores in the village. Smokes were first seen billowing out of a thatched house of one Bibek Mohapatra and could not have been spotted as his family was out in some work. Villagers came to know about the blaze only after it caught the houses of Sanand Mohapatra and Meghanad Mohapatra located in the neighbourhood of Bibek.

Till Rasola Fire Brigade team reached the village and doused the flames at least eight goats and assets worth lakhs had been completely reduced to ashes. Several valuable documents of the families were also lost to the mishap.

While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the local Tehsildar has reached the spot and distributed polythene for making temporary houses, after assessing the loss.
