Fire breaks out in SBI Baupjee Nagar branch in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Residents were left in a state of panic in Bapujee Nagar area in the city today following a fire which broke out in a building housing State Bank of India (SBI) local branch.

As per the report, smokes started billowing out of the 2nd floor of the SBI Bapujee Nagar building early in the morning and came to the notice of some locals who called up police. The fire siren of the bank also went off during the incident.

Later, at least two fire tenders with a team of 12 officials rushed to the spot to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the nearby colonies, which are densely populated.

While no casualty or injury has been reported in the mishap, some important banking documents including AADHAR cards of the customers were reduced to ashes in the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the exact amount of property lost to the flame is being assessed, informed the branch officials.
