Kendrapara: Assets worth lakhs were gutted in a fire which broke out at the State Bank of India (SBI) Chandol branch under Derabish block this afternoon.
Smoke started billowing out from a room in the branch and was spotted by some staff, who raised an alarm.
Later, fire services personnel rushed to the spot to douse the flames but till then important documents, furniture and electronic goods had completely reduced to ashes.
While the estimation of the loss incurred in the blaze is underway an electric short circuit is being suspected behind the mishap.
