Rourkela: Several important documents and properties worth over lakhs were gutted after fire broke out at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here in Odisha late last night.
According to sources, some students of the institute first saw the flames emanating from the Purchase and Works department last night.
On being informed, two Fire brigade teams rushed to the institute and doused the fire within an hour.
Though the exact cause behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained, Fire Services personnel suspect a short-circuit could be the cause of the fire.
